About 1999 I had dinner with the late Australian author Damien Broderick.
He had written a couple of books I read about AI, including The Spike and The Last Mortal Generation. We talked about the predictions that Moore’s Law would lead to AI starting to take shape around 2025-30. I asked him when people would take those predictions seriously. He said “when it’s far too late”. I think he was right.
